Selangor Red Giants skip two events after setback

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Red Giants ( coach Michael Angelo "Arcadia" Bocado said his MLBB gamers' decision to skip two pre-season tournaments was a strategic move in their preparation for Season 15 of the Professional League Malaysia (MPL MY). Following their failure to progress beyond the group stage of the recent Snapdragon Pro Series Challenge Finals in Johor Baru, they took a break — opting out of the Malaysia eSports Cup and national qualifiers for the World Esports Championships (WEC). Filipino Bocado said the break was necessary for the reigning back-to-back MPL MY champions to revitalise themselves. On Saturday, opened their season with a 2-0 victory over Team Vamos, highlighted by a superb performance from John Vincent "Innocent" Banal. In the clash of league newcomers, DX Soul defeated Ocean Black 2-0, while Team Rey mounted a comeback to upset the highly rated JP Niners 2-1. On Sunday, former champions Homebois began their season with a 2-0 win over Aero Esports. Todak, who are set to defend Malaysia's WEC title later this year, were handed a 2-0 defeat by Monster Vicious. Vamos bounced back from their opening-day loss by edging Team Rey 2-1.
